About the breed: There are two breeds of Welsh Corgis--Cardigans and Pembrokes. The most obvious difference is that Cardigans have tails, while Pembrokes do not. Corgis were first bred in Wales to herd cattle. They are the smallest of the dogs in the herding dog class. Cardigans are often called "big dogs in a small package". Their temperaments are based upon their original lives as companions and valuable farm helpers and guardians, all of which make them adaptable and outstanding house pets.
